I am Jason-Ray, known artistically as BONES (Art by BONES), founder and owner of Black Sheep Art & Design, the parent company of the upcoming Artisan Edge Studio.
Born in northeast Texas and raised in Houston, I began my creative journey in 1998. I first moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2003 and returned permanently in 2017.My work as a professional freelance artist has grown from the streets of Houston and Austin to murals across Texas, California, and Oregon.
Black Sheep Art & Design was founded in Austin, Texas in 2013.My artistic range spans traditional mediums — pen & ink, colored pencil, and acrylic painting — to advanced fabrication techniques including laser engraving, CNC routing, 3D printed art, vinyl stickers, custom embroidery patches, apparel printing, and large-scale painted and wall-printed murals.
At the core of my work is a deep spiritual foundation. I believe the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is the true source of all genuine creativity and inspiration. My art is an act of honor and celebration — a way to give thanks for the gift God has entrusted to me. Because of this, I am intentional: I do not use my art to glorify evil, drugs, immorality, or negativity. Instead, every piece is created with purpose, integrity, and a desire to reflect light, resilience, redemption, and beauty.
Artisan Edge Studio is the next chapter of Black Sheep Art & Design — a higher-end, fully equipped creative studio that merges digital precision, advanced fabrication, and heartfelt craftsmanship. While expanding my capabilities and reaching a broader audience, I remain firmly rooted in the same foundation that has guided my path for over 25 years: authenticity, perseverance, and a commitment to creating art with soul and spiritual alignment.As a proud “Black Sheep,” my art has always reflected the journey of staying true to one’s calling, embracing transformation, and using creative gifts for good, embracing transformation, and turning personal history into powerful visual statements. Whether creating intimate detailed pieces or large-scale public murals, every project carries the spirit of perseverance, creativity, and soul.
